Cherine Foty and Christine Falcicchio Appointed as Global Co-Chairs of the Campaign for Greener Arbitration

The founder of the Campaign for Greener Arbitrations, independent arbitrator and former ArbitralWomen Board Member Lucy Greenwood has handed over the President role to ArbitralWomen Board Member Cherine Foty of Covington & Burling LLP and Christine Falcicchio of Sopra Legal, effective 1 January 2024. Christine Falcicchio and Cherine Foty previously held the role of Co-Vice Presidents of the Campaign’s Global Steering Committee and were on the drafting committee of the Campaign’s Green Protocols.

Cherine Foty is a Senior Associate in the international arbitration group at Covington & Burling LLP in Washington, D.C. She practices international commercial and investor-state arbitration and has particular experience in the energy sector. She is also a member of Covington’s Business and Human Rights and ESG practices where she advises clients on a diverse range of non-judicial disputes involving issues of human rights and environmental due diligence, global supply chains, and investor obligations. Cherine is a Member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR, serves on the CPR Y-ADR Steering Committee’s Sustainability Working Group, and is a Co-Founder of ArabArb.

Christine Falcicchio is the founder and owner of Sopra Legal, Inc., a firm dedicated to creating hyperlinked submissions for law firms, with a focus on commercial and investor-state arbitrations as well as ad hoc matters. Prior to founding Sopra, Christine practiced civil and criminal law in the United States is licensed to practice law in the State of Florida where she continues involvement in pro bono matters. She serves on the Seton Hall University School of Law Women’s Leadership Advisory Committee and is a member of ChIPs Network and the International Law Section of The Florida Bar (ILS).
