Other Information
I am a Fulbright scholar, a Weinstein JAMS International Fellow for 2018 and the first lawyer from Pakistan to become a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK (FCIArb). I am an alumna of the London School of Economics and Political Science. In a career stretching over seventeen years, I rose to partnership at the leading Pakistani firm, Samdani & Qureshi, before leaving for my SJD at George Washington in 2015. I have worked as counsel in the areas of International Commercial, Construction & and Investment Arbitrations before tribunals constituted under the rules of arbitration of International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), International Court of Arbitration–International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), DIFC-LCIA Arbitration Centre (Dubai International Financial Centre), and Adhoc Tribunals. I am a Solicitor of England, and Wales besides being a Member of the High Court Bar of Pakistan. I am Country Reporter for Pakistan for Kluwer Arbitration International/Board of International Transnational Arbitration and OGMID. I served as a scholar in residence for six months in ICSID in 2016. I have been designated by the Government of Pakistan as an arbitrator on the panel of ICSID, for a term of 8 years. I worked for about a year with the Infrastructure Project Development Facility, Ministry of Finance, Pakistan, which is a focal point for establishing public-private partnerships for the development of the Infrastructure of Pakistan in the capacity of Legal Advisor. I also worked as a legal officer in the National Tariff Commission (NTC), the body in charge of regulating WTO laws relating to the anti-dumping and countervailing measures available in Pakistan. On 9 April 2020 I successfully defended my dissertation before my committee consisting of eminent scholars and jurists, including, Mr. Sean Murphy, Dean Rosa Celorio, Judge Charles Brower, and Mr. Alexandrov Stanimir, making me the first woman and fourth lawyer in Pakistan to qualify as an SJD.
