WOMEN IN LAW NEWSLETTER launches with article by Chris Patten on the Role of Women in Conflict Resolution

The inaugural issue of the Women in Law Newsletter is launched today (29 November) with an article by Chris Patten on the role of women in conflict resolution.

The Women in Law Newsletter can be found at www.womeninlaw.com/newsletter1/newsletter1.htm and is the creation of solicitor Dr Linda Spedding and publisher Ruth Eldon of Women in Law Ltd (www.womeninlaw.com).

The aim of the on-line Women in Law Newsletter is to provide a reliable network for women lawyers and an opportunity for communication between women practitioners.

It will represent an ongoing resource for up-to-date information on relevant areas of general practice, including comparative and international matters of interest with a focus on topical business law issues.

In addition it will address issues that women lawyers should consider in order to ensure a life/work balance. Therefore, there will also be a focus on achieving harmony in this notoriously difficult area.

All of these issues resonate with women lawyers around the world and they cross all cultures, boundaries and barriers.

The Women in Law Newsletter will be published quarterly. The inaugural issue is free at www.womeninlaw.com and subsequent issues will be available on subscription - the first 300 subscribers anywhere in the world will receive 40 minutes free life coaching from Noble Manhatten Life Coaching.

Issue 1 includes articles on the Role of Women in Conflict Resolution by the Rt Hon Christopher Patten CH, European Commissioner for External Affairs at the European Commission in Brussels; Shattering Glass Ceilings and Glass Borders
by Simmons and Simmons Senior Partner Janet Gaymer; The Plight of the Trailing Spouse by Andrea Elliott, Senior Foreign Attorney, Global Visa Solutions of Newport Beach, California; Women Barristers: Is it Worth a Woman going to the Bar? by Frances Burton of the Association of Women Barristers of England and Wales. In the Life/Work Balance section are Tips from a Health Journalist, and an introduction to life coaching.

Women in Law Ltd are also launching a series of one-day seminars on Achieving Fulfilment and Success as a Legal Professional at various venues commencing March 2004 and further information can be found on the Women in Law website
(www.womeninlaw.com).
