Gender diversity in the international arbitration community is increasing, as reflected in the 2020 report on the progress of women issued by the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (“ICCA”). For example, the number of female arbitrators appointed has doubled in the past four years. Building on the ICCA report, this event will highlight the progress made by many efforts to date, assess existing approaches to promoting equal representation of women in international arbitration and create a vision of how to move forward.

The panel – comprised of representatives from a law firm, an arbitral institution, a third party funder, chambers and a university – will highlight the importance of gender diversity which enhances legitimacy and confidence in the outcomes of the arbitration process.
