In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has entered the space of international arbitration, both commercial and investor-State. How does it work? What are the variables that are considered: the arbitrators, particularized legal issues, others? Can investors, States, counsel and third-party funders rely on AI and predictive analytics to make strategic decisions during the course of an arbitration? What are the potential risks? Our panel will consider these topics, including how the pandemic is shaping the use of technology in international arbitration, sharing perspectives from an AI expert in international arbitration, experienced counsel from big law and boutique firms, and a third-party funder.
