She lectured in several universities across Europe and Asia, and earned her doctoral degree from Ghent University with a thesis on the intersection between investment arbitration and environmental law.

She specialised in EU Law with an LL.M. at the College of Europe, Bruges, graduated from the University of Milan (110/110 summa cum laude), and was a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, Université Nice Sophia-Antipolis, Sheffield Hallam University, and Tsinghua University in Beijing. She has authored 40 publications and had 50 speaking engagements on International Arbitration, International Investment Law, EU Law, Intellectual Property Law, Theory of Law, and Comparative Law.
